PFAP Foundation: Innovative Funding for Forefront Initiatives

Melissa understands that the Jewish people and their supporters must focus on the future. As the war drags on, incoming donations are quickly declining. A growing number of projects are competing for a shrinking pot of funding. Melissa and the PFAP Foundation are helping to ensure that there will be funding for these important causes tomorrow, and the day after that.

PFAP Foundation

The PFAP Foundation was born from Passion For A Purpose LLC, a boutique social impact consultancy company. The PFAP Foundation supports community projects that advance Judaism, Zionism and pro-Israel sentiment, and the welfare of the Jewish people in the Jewish State.

The Origins of the PFAP Foundation

Dr. Melissa Jane Kronfeld grew up in New York City. She holds two master’s degrees and a PhD, and has worked in the fields of politics and journalism. Melissa also served as the liaison between a wealthy businessman and the nonprofits which he supported. In this role, she met leaders of the nonprofit world and attended important board meetings. Although she was quite young at the time, Melissa had gained a front row seat to the inner workings of the nonprofit world.

At the same time Melissa joined the Nexus Youth Summit, which aims to empower young wealth holders from around the world to fix the problems of the future through impact investing.

Melissa’s involvement with Nexus inspired her to invite community leaders, celebrities, major donors, and influencers from a wide variety of industries for intimate parlor meetings in her home. In this way, she created her own community of philanthropists that exchange ideas and share advice.

Eleven years ago Melissa was ready to move on. She decided to devote her knowledge and energy to the nonprofits that were important to her. Melissa attended every board meeting of these organizations and volunteered wherever she could. Her breadth of experience enabled her to come up with unique solutions to the challenges facing these organizations. Melissa recognized that many nonprofits were disorganized and dysfunctional, and she was ready with practical solutions to systemic problems.

Word of Melissa’s talents quickly spread throughout the nonprofit world. Organizations reached out requesting her assistance, leading her to create her consulting company. Passion For A Purpose has been offering boutique impact consulting to nonprofits for over a decade. Today the company boasts over 500 clients.

The PFAP Foundation

Though Melissa never intended to open her own non profit organization, she saw how many organizations would benefit from support and incubation. Two years ago she made the bold move of starting the PFAP Foundation. This umbrella organization offers specialized guidance to organizations to help them:

  • Enhance and amplify the work of Jewish, Zionist and Israeli activists working across a diverse range of causes which strengthen the state of Israel
  • Provide assistance to peripheral communities to ensure the continuity of Jewish life across the nation
  • Support sustainable and eco-friendly initiatives which promote community cohesion and well-being
  • Disseminate positive Jewish, Zionist, and pro-Israel culture and education in Israel and around the world
  • Promotre Jewish Aliyah and facilitate Diaspora integration

  • Advocate for equal Jewish rights and Jewish access to religious, historical, and cultural sites

The PFAP Foundation During War

When the Iron Swords War broke out, Melissa understood that many nonprofits were going to need help to pivot and find ways to raise money during this complicated time. The PFAP Foundation was the vehicle and the knowledgeable expert that could offer guidance and support.

On the very first day of the war, Melissa connected with Elisha Kuchar from pizzaIDF, an organization that raises money and distributes pizza to soldiers on active duty, to help him handle the exponential donations that had begun to flood in. pizzaIDF was taking donations, but was not able to issue receipts. The PFAP Foundation settled pizzaIDF under their umbrella so that they could issue receipts abroad. They facilitated the launching of pizzaIDF’s fundraising campaign and expanded the organization’s capacity to raise money.

More nonprofits began reaching out to Melissa for help in establishing a way to receive and expand their acceptance of donations. It’s as if the foundation that Melissa had founded two years ago was established in anticipation of this critical time we find ourselves in now, allowing nonprofits to respond at lightning speed. The PFAP Foundation set up a program called Iron Israel, to provide complimentary services to organizations in Israel, and anyone supporting Israel, towards war relief.

Iron Israel

Iron Israel is a platform that leverages the collective tools and capacity of the foundation to create fundraising campaigns for charitable causes related to Israel and the war. Iron Israel does the graphics, promotes the network, processes the funds for the organizations and many other services to set the organization up for success. All this is done at no cost to the organization. To date, Iron Israel has raised approximately $500,000 for 16 different projects, and it is rapidly expanding. Several nonprofit applicants are in the process of joining the Iron Israel platform. Projects towards the war effort that would like to apply to the foundation can do so here.

Looking to the Future

As if she wasn’t busy enough, Melissa is in the process of creating the Tomorrow Fund. The Tomorrow Fund provides donors with the opportunity to distribute their donations evenly across all participating causes. Any cause that joins the PFAP Foundation before January 2024 will receive an even stake in the money that is raised.

The Project:

The PFAP Foundation is raising $100,000 for the Iron Israel Tomorrow Fund. The Foundation is volunteering its expertise and resources to raise these funds to help support all the causes under the Iron Israel umbrella.
